SOLAR POWER AT ROGZ HQ

Harnessing the power of the sun has been a total game-changer for ROGZ. In 2023, we took a bold step toward a cleaner future by installing solar power at our Cape Town headquarters. Just one year later, in 2024, we’ve achieved something remarkable — a 65% reduction in grid energy use. Even better, ROGZ HQ is now a net exporter of energy, generating more electricity than we consume and feeding the surplus back into the national grid. In a country facing an ongoing energy crisis, this milestone isn’t just an environmental win — it’s a meaningful contribution to South Africa’s energy resilience. From the very beginning, our vision was clear: by shifting to solar, we could create a system that powers our operations and supports our communities. Today, that vision is reality. By reducing our carbon footprint while helping to light up local homes, we’re proving that sustainability and success can shine side by side.

UPCYCLING FOR A SECOND LIFE

At ROGZ, we don’t believe in waste — we believe in possibilities. Rather than discarding unwanted materials, we look for creative ways to repurpose and reinvent them. Old marketing banners? They’ve been transformed into stylish laptop sleeves and tote bags for our Roggerz team. And for Mandela Day 2024, we upcycled 100 Melrose Cheese jars from the ROGZ Academy Bristin Food Project, turning them into heartfelt appreciation gifts for teachers at the four schools we support in Dunoon and Joe Slovo Park townships. By giving materials a second life, we’re not only reducing waste — we’re celebrating resourcefulness, creativity, and community connectionin true Rogz spirit.

ROGZ URBAN FARM

The pavements outside ROGZ HQ have blossomed into a thriving urban vegetable garden — a living symbol of our commitment to sustainability and community. This green space does more than just grow fresh produce for our neighbours — it also nurtures local bird and insect populations, creating a tiny ecosystem buzzing with life. Our approach is circular and hands-on: all organic waste from the garden, nearby park areas, and our own kitchen is composted and returned to the soil to nourish future harvests. Every October, we replant sunflower seeds saved from the previous year’s crop. By the time our team returns from summer holidays in January, they’re welcomed by a joyful sea of sunflowers — alive with bees, butterflies, and birds. This flourishing garden doesn’t just feed the community; it feeds our spirit, reminding us every day that sustainability grows best when it’s rooted in care, creativity, and connection.

Founded in 2013, the ROGZ Academy has been dedicated to empowering local communities through education, youth development, and nutrition. By investing in the next generation, we’re creating opportunities that reach far beyond business — helping young minds learn, grow, and build a brighter tomorrow. The ROGZ Academy is more than an initiative; it’s a promise to keep showing up for our community — nurturing potential, inspiring confidence, and making a positive impact that lasts.

By designing and manufacturing the majority of our products at ROGZ HQ, we have significantly reduced our carbon footprint within the South African market. Supporting local production not only strengthens our economy but also minimizes transportation emissions, making our operations more sustainable.

In May 2022ROGZ became the first African company to join the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) — a major milestone in our ESG journey. This partnership has helped us formalise our sustainability strategy, offering valuable education, inspiration, and implementation support as we continue to grow with purpose. We’re proud to stand alongside businesses that share our values. Our Australian distributor, TimePet, achieved Certified B Corporation status in May 2024 — a powerful reflection of their commitment to people, planet, and purpose.
